Air Motion Pro low-snag hairbrush review

The AirMotion Pro has to be the hairbrush with the most exciting name in the world - and it really does deliver a virtually snag-free brushing experience, even when your children brush their own hair. The special design aims to relieve the tension brushing causes, and be much more gentle than traditional brushes. This isn't only good for children, it's good for anyone's hair.

This is a technically advanced hairbrush, and is nicely packaged to reflect that. Inside the box the brush itself is quite different. The handle has a soft touch rubberised coating, and the shape fits really nicely into any size of hand and is quite small, so ideal for children.

The bristles and head of the brush are all moulded from the same piece of soft plastic. This means hair doesn't catch around where the bristles come through the head of the brush. All the bristles are different lengths to glide through the hair, and none of the bristles touch - which is another big cause of snagging and tugging out hairs.

If you've ever visited my blog you'll have seen my two young lad's hair. They're both unfortunately blessed with the naturally very curly hair myself and their Dad have, and they both insist they want to grow it and don't want it cut. Brushing can be a nightmare and has always been kept to a minimum for all of our sanity!

I tested the AirMotion Pro on my youngest. His hair is very knotty and wild, and he doesn't have the tight curls his brother has, so his hair needs brushing more to prevent it forming dreadlocks. He hates anyone touching his head, which makes brushing even more difficult. We were instantly off to a good start - very little snagging and he sat happily and let me try the brush - this is a definite first!

Our youngest is 5 1/2 now, growing up, and he feels he wants independence. Once I'd had a couple of brushes, he did want to try the brush himself. This is where we tend to get a disaster as he rolls the brush into his hair and gets it stuck. He didn't - it brushed through his hair really nicely despite his usual short-armed attempts and we were both delighted.

Obviously curly hair does need more than just brushing, this is not the 1970's and frizz is out, so we wet and slightly mousse his hair to keep it together after brushing.

We've been using the AirMotion Pro brush now for a couple of weeks (including on holiday last week). It is now definitely our hair brush of choice. It works really well on wet or dry hair, doesn't strip the hair, barely pulls and doesn't scratch or tug at the scalp.

At £11.95 the AirMotion Pro is more expensive than your standard cheap brush, but well worth the price tag as far as I'm concerned because we really have had no screeching, whining or crying while brushing, and the results are clear to see. Available in black and white or black and pink.

We were sent our AirMotion Pro brush to review.

  1. Ooh, this looks really interesting. I'm always on the look out for a brush for Miss M's curly locks. I can't imagine brushing her hair without her grumbling at me, but this looks well worth a try!

    1. It's a nice one, it really is. Your poor Miss M,I do feel for her. She has the most amazing hair (just like her Mum), but as a child it must be so tedious :)

  3. Yay! So glad it worked for your boys. Their hair is gorgeous but I can imagine incredibly difficult to tame! You can definitely see the improvement after use. Hope they continue to enjoy using it!

    1. So do I! I usually brush their hair when they're in the bath and it has conditioner on, because they moan so much. I always try to be super gentle, but with the Air Motion Pro I can get away with doiing it dry - with the 5 year old anyway :D

  4. It really is a very awesome brush and yes, the name is pretty awesome too. It is much softer than you would expect and looks like it will protect hair. The boys look as awesome as ever! Sim xx

    1. It is much softer than you'd expect - I probably should have thought to mention that because it does look quite stiff in the photos! :) x
