Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum Review

I'm no spring chicken any more, I'm a post 40 blogger. As I have got older my skin has become drier and more patchy, with rosy red areas. I'm not a big wearer of make up, but that doesn't mean I've given up on my appearance and I am always happy to try something that says it will 'help fight visible signs of fatigue' and 'intensely hydrate skin'. Sounds good to me.

Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum Review

Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum is for use after you wash/tone and before you moisturise. Ideal for morning use to iron out those overnight wrinkles, it is probably more useful to women over 30.
Liz Earle say that use of the serum each morning as part of your daily routine will:
  • Even skin tone – with Persian silk tree extract to help fight the visible signs of fatigue, such as a dull complexion.
  • Lift and firm – with pomegranate flower extract to help boost collagen.
  • Plump and smooth – with rhubarb extract to help intensely hydrate skin

My serum arrived and I was surprised it didn't have a box, but then pleased because I realised it doesn't need one. It would have been a waste. Instead what you have is a 30ml pump, and it's a very attractive one too.

The ingredients include rhubarb, pomegranate, Persian date and olive (and nothing from animals - this is vegetarian friendly). I don't know which ingredients are responsible for the smell of the serum, but it's definitely unusual. Not unpleasant, but nothing like any other moisturising face products I've used.

What does Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum look and feel like

The texture of the Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum is lovely. Creamy and really quickly absorbed with no stickiness or tightness. I have tried it with a couple of different moisturisers and my skin was lovely and soft and looked good. The amount on my finger there is one pump, and I felt plenty for a whole face.

I still haven't mastered the art of the selfie, but here are my best attempts before first use, and after 7 days.

There isn't a lot of difference to be seen in my wrinkles, but my skintone is more even, my face is less red and a lot more hydrated. My skin is softer and my forehead and cheeks aren't visibly dry. This is much more of an achievement than it seems because I was fine when I started the trial, and then have spent the last few days with an awful cold. I don't even have a red nose - I'm really impressed!

The Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum really had it's work cut out with me and my streaming eyes and nose, and it's done a great job. Usually as my skin is dry anyway, catching a cold gives me bright red sore cheeks and undereye areas, and a flaky sore nose that really does glow a little. I have no doubts that under usual circumstances I'd be looking better than when I'd started, and I can't wait to see the results next weekend. At £48 for a 30ml bottle it's not inexpensive, but a little goes a very long way, and if the results are right you can save on buying multiple products instead.

I was sent my Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum to review for Liz Earle and Mumsnet, and so were 19 other bloggers - here are some of their thoughts...
