BrickBox Monthly Subscription Box Review And Discount Code

BrickBox.me run a monthly LEGO and minifigure loot subscription service for children aged 3+. Each month the box has a theme and we've been sent April's LEGO Pirates BrickBox to review.

As soon as my 7 and 8 year old boys saw the front of the box they were very keen to get inside. Funnily enough, I didn't have to explain what it was, they understood this one straight away...

We love Pirates here and as my friends will already know, Ninja Pirates are my all time favourite. It even says it in my Twitter profile... I think BrickBox knew when they sent us this box.. The BrickBox April Box contained 2 great LEGO Ninjago Pirate polybag sets, as well as 3 other smaller pirate minifigure sets.

LEGO Ninjago Pirate polybags 30423 the Anchor-Jet and 30421 the Sky-Bound Plane are lovely little playset vehicles with a minifigure and accessories. Plenty of play in a little bag.

There are also 3 smaller bags in our box. The LEGO Zombie Pirate Minifigure from series 14 (set 71010) and two small Enlighten Bricks pirates sets. It would have been remiss of me not to mention this in a review. As it goes they are a very good compatible product made from a slightly softer ABS and with a few different elements. The quality and finish isn't quite there, but they retail at a lower price, so it's as expected.

It didn't take the boys long to dig in - they were both very happy. The fact there were 5 different items meant they didn't fight or argue either! A peaceful hour was had by all...

This is our Pirate King. He has already claimed (or just found) one victim - but he also has plenty of treasure! Not for long once my boys started playing with it...

As far as value goes, LEGO Ninjago polybags 30423 the Anchor-Jet and 30421 the Sky-Bound Plane retail around £15 the pair in the UK currently, the Zombie Pirate minifig has to be worth £3. That leaves the raft pirate and treasure chest sets (I'm unaware of prices).

The BrickBox.me Subscription Box prices range from €24.99 to €21.50 depending on length of subscription + Shipping is €9.99 per box. At today's exchange rate that makes my single box £29.74. With the surprise element on top and the fact it's delivered to your door, very fair value I'd say.

Also included in my BrickBox was a discount code for my readers which is valid on your first purchase until 30th June 2017. Quote the code 10%BRICKCASTLE at the order page of the website.

What we have ended up with is an impressive playset which has already given my boys several hours of play. It's encouraged them to play Ninja Pirates and they've really enjoyed it. Although it's a theme they might choose anyway, being presented with a selection of toys immediately fires children's imagination in new directions...

You can find out all you need to know and place orders on the BrickBox.me website. Shipping is in the 3rd week of the month and Europewide.

    1. It is neat - I wasn't sure if it'd turn out to be such good value, but I couldn't buy those sets for this price, even with postage.
