Star Wars Ultimate Co-pilot Chewie Interactive Plush Toy Review (age 4+) Sent by Hasbro

When Hasbro offered me the chance to review Chewie, I was really busy and barely looked before thinking, "sure, I'm a big Star Wars fan and Chewie is great". When he arrived I was completely blown away. I'm smitten. He's a cuddly toy with supersoft furReal fur, but he's also an intelligent reactive animated Chewbacca who has over 100 sound and motion combos... and he's pretty darn impressive.

Chewie arrives in a standard display box and is fastened in my plastic tags, so you'll perhaps want scissors to carefully get him out, but it'll only take a minute. He needs 4 x AA batteries, but arrives with demo batteries that often last a good while, so he's Christmas morning friendly.

He's in demo mode, so you'll need to open the gap in his back and switch him 'On' and he'll react immediately. His hair over his head also has a lot of gel when he arrives, which can be brushed out or just allowed to wear away naturally.

He's actually one of the most responsive toys I've ever played with and he barely shuts up, but he's so sweet, you honestly don't mind. He has that air of 'it's all gone wrong again' and the shape of him is absolutely perfect for hugging. You just want to take him under your wing and look after him. When you do he'll chat to you the whole time because he's motion sensitive.

He is gorgeous. His hair is furReal fabric and it is supersoft and snuggly and very 'lifelike'. He may look more like an Earth mammal than the original Chewbacca...

He's also responsive to sound, so you can talk to him and he'll chat back. He talks and waves his arms and he really seems to have tons of expression, mainly bemoaning the world. He is just like the real Chewie...

He has hard feet, nose and eyes, but soft rubbery hands which a child can hold, and he has articulated hips, so he can sit down. He balances very well standing up, he's a bit rocky sitting down, especially if you haven't bent his hips enough.

Chewie comes complete with his trademark magazine and satchel, which opens and closes and makes a great place to store Deathstar blueprints.

If you lie Chewie down he'll sleep and after a few seconds he'll start to snore. You'll want to wake him to make him do it again. He has sensors on his tummy, chest and head and will react whenever you press them. If he's asleep or you don't interact with him for a minute or two, he goes into a kind of 'rest mode' to preserve battery and won't respond again until he has a cuddle... or his sensors pressed at least.

I can't comment on battery life as we've not needed to change them yet, despite him being played with for 2 weeks now. I'm pleased with that.

You really can't appreciate just how awesome a great big cuddly talking Wookie can be without a swift demonstration....

What can I say that I haven't already? He's great and has absolutely loads of character. You can't fail to like him and I feel very lucky to have him - sorry kids, he's mine....

    1. Hiya Wallace. Sorry I didn't reply before, I was attempting to locate Chewy - he's in storage, so I'm not able to look in the box and find the instructions, but as I recall it's fairly easy to get your head around. He's got the 3 different sensors on tummy, head and chest, and knows if he's lying down or sitting/standing upright, so just have a play and find out what he does. Sorry I can't be more helpful right now - we're in the middle of moving house.
