Share Your Sunflowers And Win A Mural For Your School (Paid Partnership With Sudocrem)

In the late Summer a lot of people already share sunflower photos with us, and they are all absolutely beautiful to see, especially as our garden is pretty much a peat bog and we can't grow our own (we've tried many, many times). This year, for anyone who wishes, you can share a photo of your child(ren) with a sunflower and have a chance to win a professional mural for their school or nursery - and I have a couple of gorgeous specially printed sunflower t-shirts to give away too.

We don't have many sunflowers growing nearby unfortunately, but we do at least have plenty of trees - and my 10 year old, who is just about as tall as me now and definitely growing...

Hopefully you have grown your own sunflowers this Summer. They're easy to grow from their exciting black and white seed, and almost all UK gardens can easily grow a 5ft beauty. There really is no better flower for children because the end result is so useful and impressive, and maybe even taller than they are.

We've teamed up with Sudocrem for their ‘Jack and the Giant Sunflower’ competition. They want to see a picture of your prize sunflower next to your proud little (or big) gardener. Tag me, @thebrickcastle, #getoutandgrow, #sudocrem, #jackandthegiantsunflower and anyone else you’d like to be involved for a chance to win a mural for your children’s school (chosen by Sudocrem), a bespoke sunflower t-shirt (chosen by me) and Jack’s giant seal of approval.

Sudocrem Get out and grow competition rules and prizes

Sunflowers are a great lure for insects and bees to your garden and once the flower head has died back, you can dry it and eat the seeds yourself - or plant them again next year to make more sunflowers!

It's a bit late for this year, but here are some champion Sunflower growing tips from Sudocrem:

- Plant your champions in separate pots and give them plenty of room to reach their potential.
- Grow them somewhere with as much sun as possible – and we mean LOTS OF SUN PEOPLE. Against a south-facing brick wall can create nice little heat trap for your champions to grow up big and strong.
- Sunflowers are thirsty beasts and they need to be watered on a daily basis. So, keep that soil moist and set your children the task of monitoring water levels.

The aim of this giveaway, as well as filling my Instagram timeline with the most beautiful smiles and flowers, is to get kids out and about this Summer, and encourage everyone to learn about growing plants and gardening. Even in our peaty garden, we can still grow shrubs, herbs, trees - and of course potatoes!

All entries have to be shared on Instagram by September 15th, tagging me @thebrickcastle and using the hashtags #sudocrem #getoutandgrow and #jackandthegiantsunflower

After September 15th, I will randomly (using random.org) select 2 winners to each win a gorgeous bright yellow sports shirt, and Sudocrem will choose 1 UK grand prize winner who will win a painted mural for their school.

You've got 1 month to let your sunflowers grow a little bit more, but in case of incidents I'm happy to see how they grow if you want to take a photo now and another as late into the competition as you dare!!

This is a paid promotion and we were sent our sunflower t-shirt by Sudocrem. I like Sudocrem and have used it myself for over 30 years for sunburn, chafing, dry skin, babies bottoms and lots more... Sunflowers are very special to our family and commemorate one of our children, Elspeth, who died 5 years ago. This giveaway is a coincidence, and one that I felt fate had handed me. I love to see sunflowers and smiles, they make me smile.
