The Gloriumptious Worlds Of Roald Dahl Book Review

Roald Dahl would have been 100 this September and one of the new releases to commemorate is a fascinating book celebrating his classic and timeless children's stories. The Gloriumptious World Of Roald Dahl from Carlton Books is illustrated by Mr Dahl's long-time collaborator Quentin Blake and brought together by the children's author Stella Caldwell, and it really is an absolute treasure.

This is not a collection of Roald Dahl's stories, it's an accompaniment, and although it will mean a lot more once you know each of the tales featured, you could enjoy it in it's own right. The Gloriumptious Worlds is crammed with imagined backstory, comments and quotes, and fantastic oddities and items that set the scene for the stories.

This truly is a fascinating book, anyone who sees it and opens it can't resist reading. Because we have all grown up with Matilda, Willy Wonka, James And The Giant Peach, The Witches and other Roald Dahl characters, this is a book which really has something to offer a reader of virtually any age.

There are many special features, fold out pages, leaflets and booklets, and even a letter in an envelope. This is a fantastic book for any reluctant reader as there are also no huge chunks of text.

You also find out a little about Roald Dahl himself. The Gloriumptious Worlds Of Roald Dahl was written with support from the Roald Dahl Estate and includes some original jottings and editing notes, plus stories behind 15 of Mr Dahl's most popular children's stories.

I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed a book quite so much in a long time. I could barely put it down, and I'm well over 25. My teenagers have all been spotted browsing, and my almost 8 year old must have read the entire book the first morning it was delivered, and again twice more since...

The Gloriumptious Worlds Of Roald Dahl is an incredibly fitting tribute to a fascinatingly eccentric man, capable of creating impossible worlds to fill anyone's imagination, and who left us all believing magic really can exist. It has encouraged my 6 year old to take an interest in some of our thinner and less daunting Roald Dahl books, and my 7 year old is now desperate to read Charlie And The Chocolate Factory!

The Gloriumptious Worlds Of Roald Dahl is published by Carlton Books. Available now online and in all good book shops.  Hardback edition with 64 pages and 7 special items comprising another 32 pages priced at a gloriumptious £16.99 rrp.

If you are reading before 11th September 2016 I have a giveaway where you can win your own copy. You can find my The Gloriumptious Worlds Of Roald Dahl Giveaway here...
