Eye Spy by Guillaume Duprat Lift-The-Flap Book for age 3-99+ Review and Giveaway (sent by WOEB)

What On Earth Books didn't only send us Absolutely Everything!, they also sent a really gorgeous lift-the-flap book for readers of all ages. Eye Spy is a huge format and incredibly beautiful book that is utterly fascinating. It shows how animals, birds and other creatures see the world and they see it very differently to us! I'm really delighted to have a copy to give away to one of my readers in my Christmas Present Giveaways...

The beginning of the book explains how we see and how eyes work, and why we even need sight at all. It's beautifully written and presented in a fold out page which already makes you feel you are holding something exciting.

There's even a short section about colour. Having 3 colourblind boys we really found this really interesting. How different animals view colours has had a lot of discussion here with my dichromats.

The rest of the book is given over to actual eyes - tons of them from all kinds of living beings. Open the eyes on the page and you will see how that animal, bird, reptile, insect or other creature views the same image.

The pages are filled with gorgeous illustrations and short, simple text to accompany each illustration or photo. It's truly fascinating and a really amazing book to pour over. I will never look at animals - or worms - in the same way again...

There's no age suitability for this book. My eldest son came for tea tonight and even he was caught up for 20 minutes...

Eye Spy is by award-winning Author and Illustrator Guillaume Duprat and published by What On Earth Books. Hardback, full colour and extra large 33x25cm with 36 pages and 'lift the flaps' eyes. 6. There's nothing that rouses a sense of awe quite like the proud stance and flowing mane of a lion. For centuries, lions have been rooted in our hearts and minds as symbols of beauty, strength and bravery.
