Funko Games Review - Disney Something Wild! and Marvel Battleworld Battle Ball (Sent for review)

Funko are really well known for their 'Funko Pops', but that's only part of the story, They also make a range of games, and we've been sent some to review.

We've been sent Mickey And Friends and Toy Story Something Wild! games (age 6+, 2-4 players), and 2 of the Marvel Battleworld Battle Balls (age 6+)...

Funko Games Review - Something Wild! and Battle Ball! Collage showing aspects of each

The Marvel Battleworld Battle Balls are quite large and heavy, so straight away the boys were very keen to get into them. They have a plastic sleeve around which really needs scissors to open because the rip strip is a bit hit and miss - don't use your teeth!

Inside you have 1 Hero, 1 Hero Card, 1 Thanostone (containing a mystery Hero), 1 mystery Hero Card sealed in black plastic, 5 Battle Cards, 1 Attack Die, 5 Danger Tokens, 1 Danger Coin and Instructions.

This month Carlton Kids have sent us Disney/Pixar Toy Story: Woody's Augmented Reality Adventure Book for review. It's aimed at children of all ages 3+ and my boys still enjoy Toy Story despite being 9 and 10, plus we all wanted a sneak peek of the new characters from Toy Story 4, especially Forky!

The Augmented Reality is created via your phone or tablet camera and a free app. which you'll have to download from Play Store or Apple before you start. It's not huge and only took a few seconds.

The app. is ready to go instantly and very intuitive, with good, clear instructions on screen to get you started. There are very few options, so you can find everything easily and it's even ideal for very young children or technophobes.

Disney On Ice Presents Dream Big at Manchester Arena 2018 (Review Visit)

Last night we were guests of Feld Entertainment to review Disney On Ice presents Dream Big at Manchester Arena. We all love Disney On Ice and it's always a really good night. Dream Big saw the first appearance by Moana and her sidekick Maui, one of my children's favourite characters, plus classic characters Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, one of my favourites...

Before the show we got to meet and greet with Mickey Mouse, and for the first time in ages my youngest joined in with the photo. Hes not keen on dressed up characters and has avoided them for a while, so it was really brave of him and hopefully a sign of things to come!

We had seats to the right side of the arena and first up was the Fit To Dance warm up, with a host of skaters on the ice in sparkly costumes that were really impressive. They looked great and really had the audience joining in.

Disney On Ice presents Dream Big! Manchester Arena 10th-14th October

Disney On Ice is back and it's latest tour, Disney On Ice presents Dream Big! will arrive at Manchester Arena on the 10th October and we will be going along to review. Presented once again by Feld Entertainment, it promises big things and is sure to have the incredible skill and quality of previous shows.

The tagline for this year's show is 'Every Story Begins With A Dream' and that couldn't really be a more perfect description for any great story, whether true or fiction. The show brings together a collection of inspiring tales featuring characters with a desire to explore the depths, heights and horizons of their dreams.

This will be the first UK show to feature Moana and the greatest demigod on 2 legs, Maui, as well as 8 other tales of courage and heroism, including Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Tangled. The awesome Maleficent, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty will all make an appearance, as well as lots of the classic Disney favourites, including the icons Donald Duck and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Disney On Ice presents Passport To Adventure, Manchester Arena Review

We were lucky enough to be invited to see Feld Productions Disney On Ice presents Passport To Adventure at Manchester Arena on Wednesday night. This show kicked off the Manchester run, which ends on Sunday 15th October.

It's safe to say we were all in good spirits and really excited about the show - especially seeing Peter Pan and of course the characters from Zootropolis! My children weren't in the mood for press photos, so we obliged.

The children were impressed by the Fit To Dance team and their boomerangs though - throwing and catching on skates is very skillful. I didn't see a single skater fall all night, it looked to be a near perfect performance.

Family Ticket Giveaway to Disney's Fit To Dance Workshop With Ashley Banjo!

Sometimes I get offered tickets to an event that isn't for me, or I'm not able to attend. It's lovely to see those tickets go to someone else, especially someone who will really will get the most out of the opportunity.

On Tuesday 26th September from 4pm until 5.30pm (times may be subject to slight alteration) Disney On Ice presents Passport To Adventure will be holding a Fit To Dance workshop in the centre of Manchester. This isn't just any workshop, it's very special.

The workshop will be led by the Disney On Ice Skaters and hosted by leader of dance troupe Diversity, winners of the third series of Britain's Got Talent, Ashley Banjo himself!

Disney On Ice Presents Frozen, Manchester Arena 2016 Review

On Thursday we were among the crowd at the Manchester Arena for the first Manchester performance of this year's special Disney On Ice presentation, Disney On Ice Presents Frozen.

The magic for us started before the performance, as we'd been invited to a before-show meet and greet with a few of the stars...sorry for the poor photos, it was actually quite dark and I didn't have my flash on the camera!

Anna and Elsa's costumes were just as good close up, and my 8 year old especially was delighted to meet Mickey Mouse, all ready for Winter in his snowboarding gear.

Win a trip to New York with the Disney Store 'From Our Family To Yours' charity initiative!

Last Thursday we were invited to a Magical Christmas Party at the Disney Store in Manchester Arndale Centre, to find out about their new charity initiative, which is taking place right up until Christmas this year.
"Take a festive photo in one of our stores, or dig out a classic from the family album and share it through Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #DisneyStoreFamily."
Disney Store From Our Family To Yours Initiative

For every treasured moment shared, Disney Store will donate a soft toy to children's charities. This year their chosen charities for the UK are Great Ormond Street Hospital and In Kind Direct. If you don't have Twitter or Instagram, you can also share via The Disney Store's page on Facebook.

That's not all though, each family that submits a photo will be entered into a competition to win a family trip to New York, including a private shopping spree at the Disney Store in Times Square. It's a huge prize for someone, and so we gave it our best efforts to win while we were there!

Disney Big Hero 6 Projection Baymax Christmas Present Giveaway from Bandai

The Disney movie Big Hero 6 was a huge hit earlier this year, and Big Hero 6 merchandise is sure to be a very popular choice this Christmas. The main characters Baymax and Hiro are incredibly likeable, even loveable, and I'm sure every child would like their own Baymax watching over them.

Disney Big Hero 6 Projection Baymax Christmas Present Giveaway from Bandai

Bandai have a great Big Hero 6 toy range this Christmas, and they have very kindly offered a Big Hero 6 Projection Baymax as a Christmas present for one of my readers.

Suitable for children aged 4 and over, when you lift up the Big Hero 6 Projection Baymax Toy's arm he speaks (using the original film voice) and projects images from the film onto his belly. At 26cm tall, he's big enough to reflect his 'real size' in the movie, but still small enough for a child to hold.

Pictopia Disney Edition Family Game Review (age 7+)

Pictopia Disney Edition from Wonderforge is a picture trivia game recommended for age 7+. A board game that works very differently from most we have played, this isn't one for younger children as it has more complicated rules, but it's easy once you start to play and the variation in questions really adds to the gameplay.

A Disney game would not be something I'd have thought to buy before, but we love this. My partner and I have even played it when the kids aren't there. It turns out there really is plenty of Disney to suit everyone.

Disney On Ice Worlds Of Enchantment Tour 2015

Autumn will see the return of the Disney On Ice UK tour. The Worlds Of Enchantment Tour will run from 25th September, arriving in Manchester on October 14th. This year for the first time characters from Frozen will be included in the show, alongside Cars, The Little Mermaid and Toy Story.

Disney On Ice Autumn 2015 UK Tour Worlds Of Enchantment

To celebrate Frozen joining the show we were invited to join some other blogger and journalists and their families and we were asked "do you wanna build a snowman?". It turns out snowman building on a rooftop in Manchester in August is even more fun than it sounds!

Disney's Planes 2: Fire And Rescue Blu-ray Giveaway

On Monday 1st December Disney will release Planes 2: Fire And Rescue on Blu-ray and DVD. Disney's Cars was great, a real change from the movies that were around, and when they released Planes my two youngest were enthralled by it. Planes 2: Fire And Rescue is a very worthy sequel, and makes a great story for young and older alike.

Bootstraps

This isn't a post about Bootstraps, news which I'm sure will be welcome. This is a post about a company called World's Apart. They emailed me just a few days after Elspeth died, and offered me a nightlight to review.

They got my 'out-of-office' notice and I probably wouldn't have heard from them again, but my 4 and 5 year olds were having awful trouble sleeping. By fluke I saw the email and it was so timely that I replied asking if I could please take a nightlight and review it at some point in the future. At the time the idea of going shopping for lights was even more horrific than it is now, I couldn't have done it.

The PR replied and was incredibly lovely to me and said she'd just send me a light and a torch and she didn't want a review. She wanted to try and help. Here's my thank you...
