Thank Gosh It's Monday!!

When I was asked by Spongebob Squarepants if I wanted to write a post about why Mondays are great, I laughed. Mondays are awful, right? Monday mornings are a nightmare - people looking for school uniform, clean shirts and bags, teenagers frantically completing homework, everyone's tired, no-one wanted to get up, and the house is a state after a lazy Sunday....

But actually, the more I think about it, maybe Spongebob has a point. It's a Bank Holiday!!! Most of the country have got a day off and I get to play with my children an extra day. 4 times a year we get a day off because it's Monday. Awesome.

Maybe Monday has a bad deal. Maybe being the day after the weekend is always going to be hard. This week Tuesday will be our 'Monday', and Tuesday will be the day with that bit from 6.45am until 9am that's hectic and full of stomping and grumping. But maybe, after 9am, after I tidy up and get the washing in, clear away the pots and wipe the table, and I'm sitting there peacefully in my quiet and relatively tidy house having a coffee, maybe I'll realise that Monday (or Tuesday) does indeed have it's benefits...

Monday is when I get to rule my house again. I am in charge and I have 5 /2 hours where I only pick up each toy once. I only need to flush the loo because it was me who used it. No-one will need me to make them a snack or find anything. I can work at my own pace and I don't get interrupted every 5 minutes.

And maybe some days, I'll even have time to play a game....

Spongebob Heropants the video game

Spongebob Heropants was released in the UK last week. Set immediately after the Spongebob Squarepants Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, from which the 'Thank Gosh It's Monday' song comes, it's a platformer with single or multiplayer option and an E rating because it's suitable for everyone. It looks like a good one to play with my young lads.

Currently available on X Box 360, PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS, the premise of the game is that Spongebob's dreams are becoming reality, and his friends have to use their own special powers to restore Bikini Bottom to normal.

Saving the universe - just the thing for a 'May The Fourth' Bank Holiday Monday....

We'll be sent a Spongebob gift for the kids in return for this post...
